Microsoft Windows XP – Why wait to make the jump? by David Hutton 11th February 2014

Having started its life in 2001 Microsoft Windows XP had been the workhorse for many office PC, offering a stable and user-friendly operating system. However as part of the Microsoft 10 year Support life cycle policy Microsoft introduced, they are bring an end to the support for Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 on April 8th 2014.
What does this mean?
As of the 8th April 2014 there will no longer be a release of security updates protecting your PC’s from malicious attacks, or free and paid support from Microsoft offering technical content. Many software providers and manufacturers will also cease to offer updates to their software and hardware running on Windows XP.
Software that is unsupported and unpatched can pose a security risk and may cause the inability to maintain data in a secure environment. This could cause system failures and a huge disruption in business.
Keeping up with the times isn’t just about being on trend, falling behind can significantly reduce efficiency. Technical issues will become increasingly difficult to resolve, dated software will have less time saving features, and your competitors running up to date software will immediately have the upper hand.
